GE-FREE Solutions :: Certification

The GE-Free Solutions standard for non-GE certification closely follows the European labeling standards. The standard is as follows:

A product may not be certified if any ingredient is the result of genetic engineering (GE), with the following exemptions:

1. If traces of adventitious or technically unavoidable contamination are less than or equal to 0.9% per ingredient

2. If the ingredient makes up less than 0.5% of the final product

In addition to the above standards, companies who have been certified by GE-Free Solutions have committed to the following:

1. Not use any ingredient which is the product of animal cloning.

2. Reduce or eliminate any contamination, such that it be well below the 0.9% theshold

3. Whenever possible, avoid using meat, fish, eggs or dairy from animals which have been fed GE feed.
